Are the sessions confidential?
Confidentiality is of the highest importance. All information shared during sessions is confidential, as are the contents of your file. If an instance arises in which a release of information would be helpful to you (whether for work or a physician), your written consent is necessary. The following are the only situations in which the law overrides client-therapist confidentiality:
With regards to confidentiality, not only what you state in session, but also, the therapy relationship itself is confidential. Thus, please never assume a therapist being unfriendly, as they will happily return a greeting if you initiate!!
When are you available?
Therapists at the Centre are not on call nor always able to be available to you; they do return messages as soon as they are able to do so in an appropriate space. Confidential client calls are not taken in public spaces. Should an emergency arise when the therapist is not available, please go to your physician, local clinic or emergency room.
How is payment arranged?
Unless we arrange otherwise, full payment by cash, cheque, e-transfer, or credit card via the website booking link "pay now", is required by the end of each session. the client is responsible for any NSF charges should they be incurred. Except in the event of emergency or illness, 48 hours' notice is required to cancel a session without the session fee being charged.
Insurance Services may be covered in full or in part by your health insurance or employee benefit plan. Many insurance companies cover only psychologists and social workers, and sadly not psychotherapists. Please check your coverage carefully by asking the following questions:
